Care Success Stories

Meet Reed and Ali

Reed's family was looking for more than traditional caregiving for their 33-year-old son, an autistic artist and limited speaker. They wanted someone who would presume competence, take the time to understand Reed, and support his goals for greater independence, friendship, meaningful work, and communication, including learning to spell and use a letterboard to more fully express himself.

Allies for Allies connected Reed's family with Ali, an experienced caregiver who shares their belief in building trust, encouraging independence, and fostering a growth mindset. Ali was excited to learn alongside Reed and support his communication through spelling and the letterboard. His calm, patient, and relationship-centered approach has been a strong fit, helping Reed build confidence, explore new experiences, and continue working toward the life he wants for himself.

Meet Garland and Zaria

Garland's family was looking for an experienced caregiver to spend the summer with their spirited and adventurous 11-year-old daughter in a remote town in Alaska. Garland has Aicardi syndrome and loves being active and outdoors, so they needed someone patient, calm, and flexible, with the energy to keep up with her while supporting her safety, emotional regulation, and seizure needs.

With limited caregiver options locally, Allies for Allies expanded the search nationwide and connected the family with Zaria, an experienced caregiver from Texas with a specialized background in behavioral support, emotional regulation, and seizure care. Zaria relocated from Texas to remote Alaska for the summer to provide Garland with consistent care, connection, and plenty of adventure along the way.

Meet Nolan and Jayvee

Nolan's family was looking for consistent, compassionate care for their 6-year-old son, who has profound autism and is nonspeaking. They wanted someone experienced with supporting his communication style, sensory needs, and daily routines, but just as importantly, someone who would get to know Nolan and build a meaningful connection with him.

Allies for Allies connected Nolan's family with Jayvee, an experienced caregiver who had previously supported nonspeaking individuals with autism and complex needs. Jayvee's experience and caring approach were a strong fit for what Nolan's family was looking for. More than a year later, Jayvee continues to support Nolan and has become an invaluable part of their family.

Every gift helps us grow our care platform and caregiver community. Through donations and grants, we expand into more regions; provide financial assistance to families facing waitlists and gaps in care; and keep our platform free for families and caregivers, including covering the cost of caregiver background checks.

Together, we’re building greater access to care, strengthening community, and empowering families and caregivers, so every Remarkable Human has the support they need to thrive.
